With August reigning in, that only leaves a few more weeks of summer before school is back in session, the weather starts cooling, and it’s back to the grind for many of us. But don’t think about that yet! Think about all the fun things you can still do through the rest of the summer. Maybe there are still a couple more family camping trips to fit in, or some fun water games that you can cool off with.
We have a few fun ideas to help you make the most of the rest of your summer.
Who says you have to go far to have a good time camping? Especially if you live in the rural countryside. Pitch up tents in the backyard, maybe even set up a string of starry lights for so extra ambiance throughout the night.
If you don’t have one already, pick up a fire pit, or use your grill to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. Get out flashlights and tell ghost stories. Sing campfire songs. Enjoy each other’s company. Create the entire camping atmosphere right in your own little haven, smoke smell and all.
The best part is, you’re not far from home if there’s an emergency or if you have small children that don’t do well sleeping in a tent.
Have a garden party! Okay, so maybe that sounds like more work, but some people are really into their gardens. If you are in the group, then host a garden party! Invite people over who share your love of gardens to help you harvest and weed your garden. This is an especially good idea if you have so much food to harvest that you want to give some away.
Make yummy appetizers from the fruits of your labor and sit around outside enjoying the evening summer breeze and chatting with friends.
The end of the summer is the perfect time to go fair hopping. From here on out is when most places hold their county and state fairs. Get a group of friends together or go with your family to some of these fun country events.
See all the animals, try the fair food, play carnival games, get a ride pass, visit the booths, watch the shows and attend the concerts. There is so much fun to be had at the fair. Whether you want some family friendly fun or to go out at night with your girlfriends, the fair is a place for everyone. So make it a priority on your end of summer bucket list.
Fishing and Boats
Go out on the lake for a day and enjoy the serenity that fishing can offer you. Take a friend and hop into a boat, rowing out into the middle of the lake and just enjoy that time together. Fishing is not only a stress relieving activity, but it can make you feel productive when you get that sweet catch and are able to cook it later on.
If you’re not much of a fisherman, just take a boat out on the lake for a day. Whether you want to go water skiing behind a motorboat or row out and enjoy the peace of nature, boating can be a great way to enjoy the last few weeks of summer.
Drive In Theater
Go to a drive in theater and watch a movie (or two). If you don’t have one near you, this could be a good excuse to get one last trip in before the summer is over. Pack up your favorite snacks, some blankets and pillows, and hangout with friends while watching those movies that you’ve been waiting for all summer.
There are so many fun summer activities that you can only do in the summer, so take advantage of them before you have to wait until next year.
