Halloween is so close! Do you have any fun traditions or activities that you do each year with your family at this time? If you don’t, maybe now is the perfect time to start.
Whether you have teenagers, toddlers, adult children, or it’s just you and your significant other, there are plenty of things to do this season that you can enjoy with everyone. Just take a look at this list that we’ve compiled and get started!
Pumpkin Carving Contest
Take this classes Halloween activity and turn it into a contest. If you have a larger family, let each person cast a vote for their favorite pumpkin. You might even decide to let the two youngest children be the “judges” to make it more fun. You can offer a prize like a bag of Halloween candy (just make sure the winner brushes their teeth well to avoid a trip to the dentist.)
If it’s just you and one or two other people, take pictures of your pumpkins and put it to a vote with your friends on social media. After a day or two, whichever pumpkin has the most likes wins! Talk about prizes or bets beforehand for the winner.
Decorate the House
Halloween decorating is something that people of all ages can do and have fun doing. You can make a haunted house if you really want to keep it spooky, or make your own fun and cutesy decorations to hang throughout your home.
If you need some ideas for decorations, try some of these:
- Pumpkins, small and large
- Decorative bowls or vases full of candies
- Cotton spider webs with spider rings
- Orange and black garland
- Tombstones in the front yard
- Halloween window stickers
Smoke Bomb Pumpkins
Have you ever lit off smoke bombs in a pumpkin? This is something everyone can enjoy, and something that gets great pictures! It’s also super fun for Halloween night when trick-or-treaters are coming by.
First you’ll want to purchase some smoke bombs (colored ones look the coolest). Then you’ll carve your pumpkins, make sure they are super clean inside. Place a smoke bomb inside, and light it. Enjoy the cool colors and effects of the smoke as it seeps out of the carved face in your pumpkin. It’s better than firecrackers on the 4th of July!
This is another classic, but farms are always changing their pumpkin patches and adding new activities for the entire family to enjoy. Activities like launching a potato cannon, hayrides, corn mazes, foam pits, pig races, and more are sure to make a day full of fun. And when all is said and done, you can pick out pumpkins to go home and decorate later.
Make Fun Halloween Food
If you’ve ever been on Pinterest around Halloween, you know there are tons of fun foods to help raise the excitement of this holiday. From stuffed jack-o-lantern peppers to frosted black cat sugar cookies, you’ll be sure to find something that everyone will love.
Try getting creative and coming up with your own Halloween themed snack. You can turn almost anything into a jack-o-lantern: quesadillas, PB&J sandwiches, veggie tray, apples and oranges. Just find things that you already have at home and turn it into a fun Halloween treat for your loved ones.
