Designing Your Dream Backyard

landscaped backyard

A beautiful backyard is something we all love. Whether you are into hosting barbecues or just love to take in some fresh air, a beautiful backyard is the perfect place to do it. When I start dreaming of my perfect backyard, there are so many things I want to incorporate. What would you do to create your dream backyard?

Landscaping

My dream backyard is meticulously landscaped. Green grass with the edge of the yard bordered by beautiful landscaping. I would want a large shade tree in one corner of the yard. I would choose hardy flowers and bushes to put in my bordering landscaping.

What plants would you use? Would you choose evergreens or spring-flowering plants? Mix and match? There’s no wrong way to landscape. You can choose whatever you want to create your dream backyard. Plants are a great way to add some individuality and class to your backyard.

I also love when backyards have walkways through their landscaping. A little stone, brick, or wooden pathway from the patio to the garden is cute and functional. Plus, it might be smart to strategically plan where you want people to walk. This way people don’t just crush through your tulips to get where they want.

Fireplace

Fireplaces and fire-pits are a fun addition to any backyard. Fire-pits are great for late nights on the patio, roasting smores, and to add some decorative flair. My personal favorite look for the backyard is a fireplace on the patio. You can even take your fireplace to the next level and have it double as a pizza oven. I love the look of a large brick fireplace. It makes the backyard feel fun, warm, and inviting.

Patio

The patio is an important part of the backyard. If you are into hosting backyard parties, the patio is probably where most of your parties are held. I love the large patios with colorful furniture. It’s fun to bring in a pop of color to the patio with a red chair or side table.

I love to see flowers on a patio. A hanging flower rack, a potted flower, or a lattice full of ivy are all a fun touch to add some decor to the patio.

Water Features

A water feature in the backyard adds class. The sound of water is so enjoyable. There are so many different types of water features you could try. The Yard Butler can help you design and install bubbling rock fountains, vase fountains, column fountains, garden fountains, basalt columns, pond-less waterfalls, retaining waterfalls, and ponds.

Get Planning

It can be difficult to visualize exactly how you want your backyard to look. You might know that you want a bubbling rock fountain, but have no idea where it would look best. Websites, like Room Sketcher, can help you design a mock version of your backyard to test out different layouts and features. It can help you decide if you really want that fireplace or if a fire-pit will work just fine.
